The Barcelona slope at the La Molina ski resort is one of the stadiums proposed for the Winter Olympics. Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) has been working this summer on this route that promises to be very spectacular.
In December 2019, the expansion of the La Molina cable car was inaugurated, since then renamed Cadí-Moixeró . This allowed the skiable elevation of the ski resort to be raised to 2,537 meters at the cim de la Tosa.
The extension of the Cadí-Moixeró cable car has made it possible to lengthen some slopes such as Dues Estacions (blue), Comabella (red) and, starting this winter, Barcelona (black).
Until now, this route began halfway through Comabella, but now, according to the new La Molina slope plan, it will have its own start of descent from the crest of La Tosa. It will run parallel to the Comabella and continue its route to the Olympic slope (red).
"In total, 4.75 kilometres long with a drop of 859 meters."
The Barcelona slope was opened in the 1950s and was baptized that way because a Ski Cup was held there with the name of the Catalan capital.
